Durban, South Africa — LiquidGold Africa (Pty) Ltd is the first company to receive a “growth” grant through the Nedbank ReNEW Programme, managed by Impact Amplifier. The funding supports the company’s work turning organic and sanitation waste into high-value products.
LiquidGold Africa runs a decentralised, zero-waste model that converts organic and sanitation waste into agricultural inputs, diverting thousands of tonnes of waste each year from landfills and water sources. Its current focus is to commercialise its Black Soldier Fly (BSF) protein — produced through its waste-processing operations — into a range of premium consumer products, including a hypoallergenic probiotic dog food range, high-protein dog treats, and nutrient-rich BSF oil.
“This funding is validation that South Africa’s waste challenge can be addressed through innovation and enterprise. LiquidGold shows that circular economy businesses can create premium, market-ready products from what others discard.”
— Orion Herman, Founder, LiquidGold Africa
The company’s near-term focus is market validation: completing the initial manufacturing run, onboarding retail partners through Vet Smart stores, securing veterinary endorsements, and establishing a presence across brand channels. As it scales, LiquidGold aims to expand to 12 Vet Smart stores, pilot international distribution, and grow revenue and jobs for its dog food range.
About the Nedbank ReNEW Programme
The Nedbank ReNEW Programme is an accelerator and grant fund supporting businesses in South Africa’s circular economy, which have a particular impact on youth job creation.
LiquidGold Africa is one of eight companies selected for the One-on-One Accelerator — a pathway for more mature businesses with advanced needs and strong potential to scale. Participants receive tailored, specialist support and access to customised modules via Impact Amplifier’s Impact-OS platform. Across both streams, selected entrepreneurs can receive funding as they reach investment readiness.
LiquidGold’s selection reflects the programme’s focus on ventures that are reimagining waste, advancing circular economy models, and creating inclusive economic opportunities — businesses that combine environmental impact with commercial credibility.
